Candle wall sconces, otherwise referred to as simply scones, are a great lighting fixture for homes. They are an ornamental wall mounted cohort used to hold lights or candles. They can also be referred to as flattened candlesticks with handles. Candle wall sconces date back to the Medieval Times when they would mostly be used to light passageways in castles. Ever since their introduction to the market, they have been in use throughout history and became even more popular when gas lighting was introduced.

Today, candle wall sconces are still great lighting fixtures for lighting small areas of a room or hall without occupying floor space. They have the ability to provide sufficient general lighting or mood lighting. They however are not recommended for targeted task lighting such as sewing or reading.

Just as there are numerous home decorating styles, so are there styles of wall sconces hence you will be sure to find a candle wall sconce that matches your décor and suits your personal style. S few different types of wall sconces include wrought iron wall sconces, brass candle wall sconces, and outdoor wall sconces. Basically, candle wall sconces can be used to hold flameless simulation candles or real candles. The most common type of candle wall sconces however are the wrought iron candle wall sconces, which come with very many permutations.

As mentioned, candle wall sconces are ideal for lighting small areas, and for illuminating an area that would otherwise be hard to get electrically wired lights into. Thus the biggest advantage of these sconces is that they need no wiring to function and is as simple as hanging a wall picture. Be advised though that how you position your candle wall sconces play a very critical role in not only getting the best lighting effect but also functioning as an attractive feature in its own right. You might want to ensure the wall sconces are high enough not to interfere with traffic in the house.

There is no best candle wall sconces per se in the market as what might appeal to you and compliment your décor might not be the same for someone else. Get one that appeals most to your individual sense of style.
